Vivek college is committed to creating and maintaining a working, living, and learning environment i.e. creative, productive and respectful to all. This includes ensuring that each student, teacher and non-teaching staff work together, in an environment of mutual trust, freedom of expression and dignity, free from any form of violence, harassment, exploitation, discrimination and intimidation in thought or in action. The Parliament of India passed the “Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition, and Redressal) Act,” in the year 2013. The ACT provides protection against sexual harassment of women at workplace and for the prevention and redressal of complaints of sexual harassment and for the matters connected there with or incidental thereto.
Meanwhile University Grants Commission has issued (Prevention, Prohibition and redressal of Sexual Harassment of all sexes, men, women & transgenders and Students in Higher Education Institutions) Regulations, 2015, which has come into force with effect from May 2, 2016.
As directed by the UGC regulation 2015, VIVEK COLLEGE BIJNOR has constituted “Internal Complaint Committee to act as inquiry authority on a complaint of sexual harassment and to take proactive measures towards sensitization of the students staff and faculty members on gender issues.
The College will respect the confidentiality and privacy of individuals reporting and the accused of sexual harassment to the extent possible. Care will be taken to see that complainants, witnesses and the harasser does not face victimization and discrimination during the process of enquiry. Intentionally providing false information is a ground for disciplinary action. In case of a false complaint a penalty will be levied on the complainant. All members of Vivek College Bijnor – students, teaching and non-teaching faculty, administrative staff, both contractual and temporary will come under the purview of this policy.
Objectives
The objectives of the Internal Complaint Committee to Prevent Sexual Harassment of Women at the Workplace are as follows:
To Develop a policy against sexual harassment of women at the College.
To evolve a permanent mechanism for the prevention and redressal of sexual harassment cases and other acts of gender based violence at the Institute.
To uphold the commitment of the Institute to provide an environment free of gender based discrimination.
To create a secure physical and social environment to deter any act of sexual harassment.
